SATE '11 Orlando panel: Disney's Magic Kingdom Fantasyland Expansion
Ted Robledo is currently a Senior Concept Designer, Creative, for Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) California. Ted is involved with the creation of Disney Parks & Resorts attractions for the entirety of an attraction’s creative process; starting with brainstorming at the Blue Sky phase, through the concept design process involving visual development and final designs, and finally, into completion with the installation and construction phase where art direction insures that the creative vision is maintained and achieved at opening day.
While at WDI, Ted has helped to produce a number of attractions, starting with Innoventions as part of the land-wise update of Tomorrowland at Disneyland in 1998, followed by Millennium Village at Epcot - Walt Disney World Resort in 2000. For several years he worked on various show and ride projects for both the Disneyland Tokyo and Tokyo Disney Sea parks. Currently, he is an Art Director for several attractions of Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Fantasyland expansion project, including Enchanted Tales with Belle, Be Our Guest Restaurant, Gaston’s Tavern, Princess Fairytale Hall and various other pieces of the expansion.
Before becoming an Imagineer, Ted began his career in the graphic design and pre-press industry while simultaneously working as a storyboard illustrator for television projects in the Los Angeles area. His career at Disney began at Disney Consumer Products as an artist with their interactive and gaming divisions in the early 1990s. Ted’s work history includes art director and design department manager roles in media development, marketing, online services and products for several companies including Sony Pictures Digital and EarthLink, as well as theme park attraction and media design for Universal Studios Hollywood. Robledo received his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Illustration from California State University, Fullerton.
A Southern California native, Ted makes his home in Pasadena, California and currently resides in Orlando, Florida during Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland expansion installation phase.
